Join emcee and NBC17 anchor, Donald Jones, for an evening of friendship, fine food, silent and live auctions, and music and dancing while raising funds for a common passion- Carnivore Preservation Trust's big cats.

The live auction will feature exciting packages including a week stay at Cape Hatteras, a basketball signed by NC State Coach Sidney Lowe, a "Methuselah" of limited edition Cabernet Sauvignon signed by Mike Benziger, a fist edition of George Orwell's Animal Farm, and some special surprises.Your evening concludes with music and dancing to your favorite hits.

Animal Profile - Rajaji

For the first two years of Raj's life, he belonged to a private owner in Virginia. He was kept in a very small area and did not receive adequate nutrition for a growing cub, which may be why he is rather small for a male tiger. Triangle Metro Zoo owner Larry Seibel rescued the young tiger and nursed him back to health, and Raj became a zoo favorite for the next 7 years. In 2006 the Triangle Metro Zoo closed and Mr. Seibel hoped to find a home that would offer Raj a good life. Enter CPT- Raj would have more space, excellent care, and a bright future.

Raj is now the first tiger to greet CPT's tour guests, and he's happy to soak up the attention! He loves his view of all the activity from his enclosure and also gets to flirt with the girls next door (Mona and Moki). Unfortunately, they don't seem as happy to see him as he is to see them. He often puts on a show for tour guests- spraying guests, talking some tiger talk, or playing with his ball.

Help CPT feed the animals

Fruit for CPT binturongs and kinkajous comes from grocery stores, and small animal feed (mice, rats) from breeding labs. Both resources have been limited lately.

Please consider donating fruit to CPT. If you are familiar with a facility that might be able to provide small animals to CPT- mice, rats, rabbits- please email our Curator, Kathryn Bertok.

Feeding with a Keeper

CPT is offering a new experience for the public- the chance to feed the animals with one of our Keepers! Participants work alongside an animal keeper during food preparation and distribution (approximately 2 hours), seeing firsthand what it takes for Animal Keepers to care for exotic carnivores!
